Thanks to the symmetry, only half of the contour can be described. In addition, to change the contour, it is only necessary to change the coordinates of 2 points (free point in the Fig. 3) and thus we obtain new shapes significantly different from the initial state, as shown in Fig. 3. The subsequent modification of the computational model consisted of the modification of the FEM mesh of the airbag using a morphing procedure, as shown in Fig. 4. At first, the contour of the airbag was changed by changing the control points coordinates, and then the mesh of the airbag was modified using a morphing procedure.

The airbag is therefore described using 7 input parameters (scaling factor of the gas generator, number of vents, vent diameter, coordinates x,z of two controlling spline points).
