OPINION OF THE CZECH SOCIETY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LAW ON PROPOSALS TO AMEND THE NATURE AND LANDSCAPE PROTECTION ACT IN CONNECTION WITH THE DRAFT OF THE NEW BUILDING ACT Summary On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic began to discuss in the 3rd reading a draft of the new Building Act (Parliamentary Press No. 1008) and the related amending Act (Parliamentary Press No. 1009). In its opinion, the Czech Society for Environmental Law expresses concern about the fate of nature protection in national parks, protected landscape areas and other natural areas protected under Act No. 114/1992 Coll., on nature conservation and landscape protection. The criticized proposal concerns the elimination of the possibility for national park administrations and the Nature and Landscape Protection Agency to promote the public interest in nature and landscape protection in proceedings under the Building Act in specially protected areas.
