Preserving multiculturalism and protecting different identities is the best way to protect the safety of people and the stability of the region in which Montenegro lies and whose destiny is shared. Montenegro is in the phase of harmonization of its legislation with EU legislation and jurisprudence in several areas, as it is at the initial stage of negotiations with the EU concerning its membership. Some of the areas to be harmonized with the acquis are connected to the advanced protection of human rights, data protection and development of civil society. The good legislative framework would be strengthened by enforcement of laws, which is a precondition for European integration. Concerning minority participation in political life and decision making processes, the next parliamentarian elections 35 would show the implementation of new electoral legislation, which is in accordance with European standards. It would also give the answer to the question as to whether Montenegro is a case of successful integration of minorities in political life.
