SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY
SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY
The Survey covers Czech books, articles and chapters dealing with international law and also texts of Czech authors published abroad. It also includes selected texts focused on private international law, European Law and Czech constitutional law, which all reflect international law aspects. In 2011, more than ten new international law books were issued in the Czech Republic, part of them devoted to public international law, the other part to private international law and international trade law. Regarding public international law, individuals and non-state actors seem to be at the centre of the attention (Definice uprchlíka a její výklad a aplikace v současném mezinárodním právu, Ochrana základních práv a svobod v proměnách práva na počátku 21. století v českém, evropském a mezinárodním kontextu, Mezinárodní ochrana lidských práv: regionální a tematická diferenciace, Stát vs. nestátní aktéři) . After more than 16 years, a new Czech monograph on law of treaties was presented by authors from the Law Faculty of the Charles University in Prague (Právo mezinárodních smluv). International law students will appreciate the fourth edition of a textbook (Mezinárodní právo veřejné s kazuistikou) by a team of authors from Palacký University in Olomouc. Scholars focusing on private international law have chosen many different topics to tackle: foreign investment protection (Ochrana přímých zahraničních investic v energetice, Stát vs. nestátní aktéři), trademark law (Známkové právo v mezinárodních souvislostech) , international inland waterway transport (Mezinárodní říční doprava), good faith (Dobrá víra jako princip smluvního práva v mezinárodním obchodu) , non contractual obligations (Právní úprava mimosmluvních závazků s mezinárodním prvkem) and World Trade Organisation (Právo Světové obchodní organizace a další kapitoly z mezinárodního ekonomického práva). Among the works of teams led by professors from Law Faculties in Praha, Brno and Olomouc are three monographs of young scholars, based on their dissertation or doctoral theses (Jan Hák, Věra Honusková, Jiří Valdhans). Concerning the journals, currently there is no Czech journal specialized only in international law. Authors dealing with international law publish their studies particularly in Právník [Lawyer] and Právní rozhledy [Legal Review]. However, since 2010 they have also had an opportunity to present the results of their scholar activity on the pages of the Czech yearbook of public and private international law. The translations of original titles in square brackets were not authorized by the respective publishers.
