SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY
SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY
This Survey covers Czech books, articles, chapters, conference proceedings dealing with international law, and also texts of Czech authors published abroad, that were published during 2018. It also includes selected texts focused on private international law, European Law, and the Czech constitutional law, that all reflect aspects of international law. The division between sections I and II in part B is only indicative; many articles deal with public international as well as private international (or also European or municipal) aspects of the analysed issue. Regarding monographs, most of them were written by authors and groups of authors connected with universities in Prague, Brno, and Olomouc. Although there is no research institution focused exclusively on international law in the Czech Republic, the key role of law faculties is obvious. The development of international jurisprudence in the Czech Republic is also significantly supported by the Czech Society of International Law, which nowadays associates with more than one hundred associated scholars, academics, and practitioners. Among a number of Czech legal journals, the Czech Yearbook of public and private international law published by the Czech Society of International Law and indexed in the SCOPUS database has confirmed its pivotal position. The ninth volume of this publication attracted not only the attention of a wide range of Czech and Slovak authors, but also many authors from abroad. In 2018, the CYIL commemorated the 100th anniversary of the exclamation of the sovereign and independent Czechoslovakia in 1918. Articles published in the CYIL in 2018 also covered international organisations, the relation between international and European law, international human rights law and humanitarian law, health law and ethics, investment and trade law, and the current Czech practice of international law. Many texts devoted to public and private international law were also published in other significant Czech legal journals issued by research institutions and universities, e. g. Právník [Lawyer] and The Lawyer Quarterly (both issued by The Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague), Acta Universitatis Carolinae Iuridica (Law Faculty, Charles University in Prague) or Časopis pro právní vědu a praxi [Journal of Jurisprudence and Legal Practice] issued by the Law Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno. Topical issues are discussed in Mezinárodněprávní reflexe [International Law Reflections], published online by the Centre of International Law within the Institute of International Relations. Translations in brackets were not authorized; however, in most cases, they were taken from databases of publishing activities maintained by particular universities and research institutions in the Czech Republic.
