III. Analysis of the caseload Only a month after the first Ombudsperson, Ms. Kimberly Prost, took her office in June 2010, the first request for delisting was received by the Office. As of 30 June 2019 (the moment of completion of this contribution), more than 100 requests for delisting have been presented to the Ombudsperson. So far, the Ombudsperson has opened 88 cases, of which 84 were completed already. 14 Usually one Ombudsperson’s case covers one request, however in two instances more than one request was reviewed; 23 related requests in case no. 8 and 2 related requests in case no 9. The following analysis is performed on the entire caseload – 112 requests lodged between 28 July 2010, and 28 May 2019. Requests joined in one case are assessed as individual requests. Information about the caseload and requests was taken from the Ombudsperson’s website. 15 82 requests were lodged by individuals and 30 by entities, 6 requests (all from individuals) are still pending. 53 individuals and 28 entities have been delisted as a result of the Ombudsperson review, four more individuals were delisted by the IDAQ Sanctions Committee before the Ombudsperson process was completed (cases 26, 34, 43 and 84). One entity (in case 3) withdrew the request. One entry in the sanctions list regarding another entity was amended and the petitioner has been removed as an alias (A.K.A.) of a listed entity (in case 13). Figure 1 illustrates the caseload growth. Regarding the fact that the reporting period extends from July 2010 (the first request lodged) to June 2019 and the crucial period, where the Ombudsperson position was vacant, lasted from August 2017 to July 2018, the data are organized not by calendar years but in 365-day periods starting at the beginning of July and ending at the end of June of the following year.
