CYIL vol. 11 (2020)

MILAN LIPOVSKÝ CYIL 11 (2020) international arbitration. The 2019 topic was a dispute between operators of social networks and a host state relating to limitations on the media due to spread of hate speech. Indeed, a current topic that might very well become a possible object of a real arbitration or judicial proceedings in future. The Charles University team (Barbora Javorská, Jan Juráš, Prokop Tomášek, Denisa Trpišovská and Natálie Tůmová) under the leadership of coaches Nikola Klímová, Helena Švandová, Zuzana Strnadová, and Katarína Krulová, with Ass. Prof. Balaš supervision, gained the award for the 6 th best written submission for the investor, 11 th best for the state and 20 th best overall position among over 100 teams. The world’s largest private international law moot, called the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot also witnessed the participation of the Charles University team (Martin Horák, Anna Kalašnikovová, Adéla Martínková, Lucie Tuzová, Matouš Valášek, and Karolína Větrovská; coaches Bára Bečvářová, Teodora Drašković, and Kateřina Kratochvílová, with Ass. Prof. Balaš and Dr. Petr Bříza supervising). The team advanced to the 64 best teams among 249 participating and was, in the end, among 16 best teams. Anna Kalašnikovová and Lucie Tuzová were also awarded with the prize for their individual presentations in the oral rounds. Let me congratulate all the students for their successful performance and express hopes for new successes in future.
