SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY

SURVEY OF CZECH INTERNATIONAL LAW BIBLIOGRAPHY

This Survey covers Czech books, articles, chapters, and conference proceedings dealing with international law as well as texts of Czech authors published abroad, that were published during 2019. It also includes selected texts focused on private international law, European Law, and Czech constitutional law, that all reflect international law aspects. Regarding monographs, most of them were written by authors and groups of authors connected with universities in Prague, Brno, and Olomouc. Whereas there is no research institution focused exclusively on international law in the Czech Republic, the key role of law faculties is obvious. The development of international jurisprudence in the Czech Republic is also supported significantly by the Czech Society of International Law, which currently associates with more than one hundred associated scholars, academics, and practitioners. In comparison to recent years, we can witness the growing ratio of books of Czech authors published abroad or in English. A special position among books belongs to a collection of scientific papers devoted to Professor Vladimír Týč on the ocassion of his 70 th birhday; more than twenty of his colleagues and former students, working at universities around the Czech Republic and Slovakia, contributed to the book with articles on different topics connected with international and European law. Among a number of Czech legal journals, the Czech Yearbook of public and private international law published by the Czech Society of International Law and indexed in the SCOPUS database still confirms its pivotal position. The 10 th anniversary edition brought more than thirty articles covering international law and international organisations, the relation between international and European law, international human rights law and humanitarian law, human rights of elder persons, health law and ehtics, international nuclear law, international investment and trade law, and recent Czech practice of international law. Other texts devoted to public and private international law were also published in other significant Czech legal journals issued by research institutions and universities, e. g. Právník [Lawyer] and The Lawyer Quarterly (both issued by The Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague), Acta Universitatis Carolinae Iuridica (Law Faculty, Charles University in Prague) or Časopis pro právní vědu a praxi [Journal of Jurisprudence and Legal Practice] issued by the Law Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno. As well as in case books, the number of articles of Czech authors published abroad in foreign scientific journals has also increased. Translations in brackets were not authorized; however, in most cases they were taken from databases of publishing activities maintained by particular universities and research institutions in the Czech Republic.
