CYIL 15 ȍ2024Ȏ PROSECUTING „HATE SPEECH“ AT THE IMT, NUREMBERG … an enemy, an evil-doer, a disseminator of diseases who must be destroyed in the interest of mankind. 49 The prosecution pointed out Julius Streicher’s appraisal of the contribution of his publications in influencing German public opinion. “He (the Jew) is even taught that the slaughtering of a non-Jew is an act of pleasing God. For 20 years we have been writing about this in Der Stürmer ; for 20 years we have been preaching it throughout the world, and we have made millions recognize the truth.” In a January 1935 issue of a supposedly medical paper entitled “German People’s Health through Blood and Soil”, Julius Streicher wrote: [O]ne single cohabitation of a Jew with an Aryan woman is sufficient to poison her blood forever. Together with the “alien albumen” she has absorbed the alien soul. Never again will she be able to bear purely Aryan children, even when married to an Aryan. They will all be bastards...now we know why the Jew uses every artifice of seduction in order to ravish German girls at as early an age as possible; why the Jewish doctor rapes his female patients while they are under anesthesia. 50 In September 1937 at Nuremberg, Julius Streicher spoke of the need to rid Germany and the world of Jews. He declared that look at the road the Jewish people have been following for thousands of years past: everywhere murder, mass murder… Full and final victory will have been achieved only when the whole world is rid of Jews. 51 In January 1938, he wrote in Der Stürmer about race pollution as a crime, stating that there are only two appropriate punishments, first, long-term penal servitude for attempted race pollution, and, second, death for the complete crime. Karl Holz, editor of Der Stürmer , wrote in July 1938 on the extermination of the Jews, mentioning that: [F]ull of hatred, the Jews in Germany might long for the “day of revenge.” This wishful thinking of the Jews will not materialize. On the contrary, the great revenge will fall on the Jews themselves, the revenge of justice, the revenge of the tortured non-Jewish peoples. The revenge will break loose one day and will exterminate Jewry from the surface of the earth. 52 Streicher’s publications did not differ so much from those of Hans Fritzsche, as they did call for the victimisation of the Jews.
