resources to process a job operation (George Chryssolouris & Velusamy Subramaniam, 2001). From the automotive industry there is an interesting study of Hermawati et al. which brings formal user studies conducted at OPEL and VOLVOGroup to identify assembly training needs and a subset of requirements (Hermawati et al., 2015). However, each study relates to unique job definitions and it is not possible to transfer individual knowledge (or only with certain limitations) to other assembly cases. 2. Case study This paper is dedicated to the production of the mentioned relays, which are divided into two groups: safety relays 12% and special relays 88%. The relays are used in elevators, escalators, lighting, automotive, air, rail and water transport. It consists of mechanical and electrical parts. Devices that use relays must be turned off or on in specific situations, which must be done within a few hundredths of a second. Otherwise, there may be a health or life-threatening situation for the user or operating personnel (Hozzová, 2017). Until recently, the company Fortive Corp was a part of Danaher Corporation, but it was divided into a newly formed Fortive Corporation. Today, the company consists of two segments - professional instruments and industrial technology including market leaders such as: Fluke, Quatriol, Teletronix and others. The customers of the company are not only Slovak companies, but mainly foreign customers, some car brands including. The company’s product range includes, for example, relays, counters, encoders, printer components, sensors, etc. The relay assembly workstation produces a wide range of safety relays and the manufacturing process is not only limited to a final assembly. Therefore, this article focuses only on the most important ones. The company uses a visual aid to measure performance, which is a visual QDIP (Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) board at the beginning of the workstation. It contains letters and characters that indicate the status of the manufacturing workstation in terms of safety, quality, delivery, supplies, production-in-process. If the desired plan is fulfilled, everything should be marked in green, on the contrary, if the plan is not fulfilled, or if there are any problems, it will be marked in red. In this way, the manager can quickly estimate whether a given relay manufacturing workstation has performance problems. The visual board shows the names of the manager, technician, process engineer, and KANBAN card (Hozzová, 2017). KANBAN cards are used to replenish the material for further production and it helps to reduce production time. The relay assembly workstation has also several dangerous sites. These are also performance-related, as disregarding work instructions on machines with hazardous locations can cause injury, stopping and, as well as, a machine failure. Therefore, each worker is trained before working on these devices. He should perform the tasks as specified in the regulations and production documents, maintain the equipment and machines and in no way to facilitate the work. If all this is adhered, there should be no complication and associated machine downtime. Downtime can
