Taking into account the current level of enterprise development, such transformations can be carried out in one of two ways. In case the enterprise forms technologically consecutive system of manufacture of production duplication of basic activity and transition to parallel organizational structure occurs. In other words, it is transformed into a horizontally integrated structure. If the enterprise already duplicates its main activities within the framework of horizontal segmentation or horizontally integrated structure, further development is carried out by extending the value chain within one larger structure, i.e. transformed into a vertically integrated structure. The authors’ proposed organizational characteristics of each level of enterprise development within the framework of the developed theoretical model of evolution of the organizational structure of industrial enterprises is presented in Table 1.

To confirm the theoretical model of the evolution of the organizational structure of industrial enterprises put forward by the authors, the authors conducted a study, which included a cluster analysis of the selected objects of study of their interpretation from the standpoint of the proposed theoretical model and refinement of the results obtained. During the cluster analysis, two groups of variables were selected that characterize both the structure of an enterprise (the first group) and the results of its economic activity (the second group): The first group of indicators: • X1 – number of units; • X2 – the average number of employees in total (people); • X3 – average number of employees in one subdivision (persons); The second group of indicators: • X4 – Increase in total assets (thousand CZK); • X5 – the amount of revenue attributable to one division (thousand CZK);
