Finally, another similar feature in both the Polish and Slovak discourses was a positive self-evaluation of the qualities of the respective nations and a high assessment of their historical roles. This fact further legitimises the hypothesis about the sustainability of the division line between “we” and “others”, either in the political discourse or in the broader political culture. As argued before, a widespread attitude about the exceptionality of a particular nation or ethnic group, even in positive terms, also serves as the basis for the development of antagonistic attitudes toward the representatives of other nations, and therefore cannot be evaluated positively.
