3.4 The automotive industry from a foreign trade perspective e Czech automotive sector accounts for the largest part of total Czech exports abroad. Exports of motor vehicles, their parts and components account for more than a quarter of total exports from the Czech Republic. e Czech Statistical O ce has been tracking two types of data on the Czech Republic’s foreign trade since 2020. Firstly, there is the so-called foreign trade in goods (formerly known as the national concept of trade in goods). In these statistics, data are presented that are based on the change of ownership between residents and non-residents. It records actual trade in goods and talks about the export and import performance of the Czech economy. From this perspective, exports of goods in the category of motor vehicles (including parts and accessories) reached CZK 1,020 billion in 2019. In the 2020 COVID year, the value of exports fell by 12% to CZK 899 billion. Since then, the value of automotive exports has risen again, increasing by 17% year-on-year to a record CZK 1,224 billion in 2023. In 2023, exports of motor vehicles and parts accounted for 27.5% of total exports from the Czech Republic.
