AUTOMOTIVE STUDY 2025 / Šaroch (ed.) et al.
In this concept, the reported value of automotive exports from the Czech Republic and its share in total exports is lower, reaching CZK 1,120 billion in 2023 (an annual increase of 18%). e reason for the di erences is a di erent measurement methodology (broader categories of goods in the rst case) and di erent pricing of exported goods. is second statistic is based on the Czech Statistical O ce’s Database of the Movement of Goods across Borders. Four categories of the Standard International Classi cation of Goods (SITC) are relevant for exports and imports within the automotive industry: – 7812 –Motor vehicles for the transport of persons – 782 – Motor vehicles for the transport of goods and for special purposes – 7831 – Motor vehicles for public personal transport – 87038010 – Passenger cars and other motor vehicles designed primarily for the transport of < 10 persons, including passenger vans and racing cars, with an electric motor only, new (except snowmobiles and special vehicles). e total value of exports of motor vehicles, parts and accessories (see the four SITC categories above) from the Czech Republic grew over the long term until 2019, when it reached CZK 897 billion. is was driven by an increase in exports of both nished vehicles and automotive parts and accessories. Similarly, the value of imports of motor vehicles, and especially of parts and accessories for production in the automotive industry, has been increasing since 2009. e coronavirus crisis meant that the value of automotive exports from the Czech Republic fell by a tenth to CZK 806 billion and imports by 14% to CZK 326 billion. Between 2021 and 2023, both exports and imports of the Czech automotive industry grew in value terms, with exports reaching a record value of CZK 1 120 billion in 2023.
