4. Instead of a conclusion… Sustainability due diligence is another form of due diligence in law. It is a multi-lay ered concept, the essence of which is to change corporate processes in order to prevent negative impacts on human rights, the environment, and good governance associated with business operations in global value chains. On the one hand, it is an important and smart protection tool that can appropriately complement traditional protection provided directly by the state. On the other hand, the implementation of sustainability due diligence will always encounter a number of obstacles, which the legal framework must adequately anticipate and be able to respond to effectively. Further developments will show us to what extent sustainability due diligence will spread in practice and how much it will contribute to the protection of human rights, the environment, and good governance. It will be important to establish a sufficiently strong legal framework for practical enforcement. Without it, sustainability due diligence will formally exist, but it will not be able to contribute significantly to positive changes in society.
