PROFESSOR VLADISLAV DAVID ON HIS 85 TH BIRTHDAY as a favor to other people and concludes that if only men tried to respect each other, the world would be more peaceful and rid of disputes. Faith, as a consecration and corolla of humanity, is apprehended by Professor David as the faith in immortality of the human soul adherent to a pious recognition of the dignity and virtue of every such soul. Professor David inspires us by his vital verve, by his desire to explore new horizons and his delight from work both on the academic and non-academic field. For most of us, Profesor David is a close friend who wisely and willingly provides advice on life’s many obstacles. T he 85 th birthday of Professor David is a splendid occasion to warmly wish him all the best, especially good health and active longevity.

* JUDr. Ondřej Sváček, Ph.D., LLM., is a senior lecturer at the Dpt. of Constitutional Law and Public International Law, Faculty of Law, Palacký University in Olomouc. He conducted his PhD studies at the Law Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno. He absolved master degree program at the Law Faculty of University in Oslo. He is a member of the Czech Society of International Law, the European Society of International Law and the American Society of International Law. His research focuses on International Criminal Law, Law of State Responsibility and Human Rights Law.
