CYIL 3 ȍ2012Ȏ

The Prague Student Summit today Nowadays, the Prague Student Summit consists of three basic pillars – Model United Nations, Model NATO and Model EU. The project is composed not only of the conference, but also of five preparatory workshops that take place from September to March. During these workshops students improve their rhetorical and diplomatic skills with the help of experts, insightful guests and professionals. Last year many honorable guests accepted the invitation and took part in the project, for example Eliška Coolidge Hašková, Vladimíra Dvořáková, Michal Broža, Martin Palouš and Tomáš Halík. Last year’s activities of the Prague Student Summit were organized by more than 50 university students for over 300 delegates. Miroslava Němcová, the Chairwoman of the Czech Parliament, provided the patronage for the year’s activities. Five preparatory workshops took place at the University of Economics in Prague, a ceremonial opening was held in Hotel Ambassador and three days of the final conference took place in Prague Congress Centre. Communication At the Prague Student Summit we work with an enormous amount of information. Information finds its way to the delegates by different ways and means of communication. The following represent the leading channels of communication. Given the young age of the Prague Student Summit’s participants, a significant part of our communication takes place on the Internet. The cornerstone of our web presence is our extensive website. The Prague Student Summit can also be found on social networks Facebook and Twitter and, moreover, short videos are published on our own YouTube channel on a regular basis. For the first time in history, students can make use of our new information system FOX. By its means the delegates may for instance register for accompanying events and embassy visits, or order reasonably-priced accommodation and a public transport ticket valid for the time period of the final conference. One of the most popular ways of communication within the Prague Student Summit is our newspaper, Chronicle, which is issued at every preparatory meeting and on each day of the Conference. This paper not only depicts events associated with workshops and the Conference, but also informs its readers about the current events in the world of diplomacy and international relations. A special space in Chronicle is also reserved for the delegates themselves, who can thus step into the shoes of a real journalist. Chronicle is also available on our website.
