take several hours, which means slowing down or stopping the process, resulting in performance degradation. The relay assembly workstation is characterized by the following features: quality is built into the process; the machines are close together; the design of the cell is U-shaped; the material flow is counterclockwise; no obstacles. The U-shape reduces the time of material delivery and off-take due to the same level of inputs and outputs. Figure 1 shows the workstation layout. Different types of relays also have different manufacturing operations times. Therefore, a certain number of pieces of one kind will be produced in a different time than the other type. There is calculated so-called Tact Time (TT), this is the time that takes to produce a product. The following section describes the production of “220” type of relay (Hozzová, 2017).

2.1 Analysis of the relay assembly workstation It was necessary to observe the time of particular operations in order to understand the state and problem of the workstation. The operation times are shown in Table 1, which are given in seconds, as the individual operations of the manufacturing process are relatively short.
